Comment

Grolle 20C.1.6a

Jacqueline of Bavaria ascended the throne of Holland amidst a succession conflict which was ultimately won by Philip of Burgundy. According to the 1428 Reconciliation of Delft, Jacqueline retained her title, but Holland and Zeeland were put under the administration of Philip, until 1433 when he gained full control.

Interesting fact

The ½ Groat "Kromstaart" coin from the County of Holland (Dutch States) features a unique design element - a small knot or "kromstaart" on the reverse side, which gives the coin its name. This knot is believed to symbolize the bond between the Count of Holland and his vassals.
