The Bahmani Sultanate was a Deccani Sunni Muslim empire that ruled the Deccan Plateau in South India. With its origins in North Indian immigrants identified as the Deccanis,[10][11][12] and its patronization of an Indo-Persian culture, it was the first independent Muslim kingdom of the Deccan, and was known for its perpetual wars with its rival Vijayanagara, which would outlast the Sultanate. The Sultanate was founded in 1347 by Ala-ud-Din Bahman Shah. It later split into five successor states that were collectively known as the Deccan sultanates.Ala Al-Din Ahmad Shah II (AH 838 -862; AD 1435-1457) real name was Zafar Khan; he took the title "Ala Al-Din Ahmad Shah II" at the time of his accession.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Ala-Ud-Din Ahmad Shah II, who was the last ruler of the Bahmani Sultanate. He ruled from 1436 to 1450 and was known for his military campaigns against the neighboring kingdoms and his efforts to consolidate the power of the Sultanate. Despite his efforts, the Bahmani Sultanate eventually declined and was eventually absorbed into the Mughal Empire. This coin serves as a reminder of the rich history and cultural heritage of the Indian Sultanates during the medieval period.
