Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the ½ Franc (Helvetia seated) coin from Switzerland is that it was designed by the Swiss engraver and medalist, Karl Friedrich Voigt. Voigt was a prominent artist of his time and his designs were used on various coins and medals throughout Europe. The Helvetia seated design on the ½ Franc coin features a seated allegorical figure of Helvetia, the national personification of Switzerland, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and the Swiss Alps in the background. This design was used on several Swiss coins during the 19th century and has become a recognizable symbol of Swiss currency.
