Interesting fact

The ½ Escudo coin from Spain, minted during the reign of Philip V (1742-1746), is interesting because it was one of the first coins to use the "pillar" design, which featured two crowned pillars on either side of the shield, symbolizing the Pillars of Hercules and the unity of the Spanish Empire. This design became a hallmark of Spanish coinage and was used for many years.
