Comment

ERNEST BAVARIA (1581-1612)
Chapter Liège will choose Ernest of Bavaria in 1581 after the death of his predecessor, Gérard Groesbeeck. From this episcopate, several foreign princes succeeded and forsook most often Liege business. Under Ernest of Bavaria, four workshops bishopric struck currencies: Bouillon, Hasselt, Liège and Maeseyck

Interesting fact

The coin features a unique design, with the portrait of Ernestus, the Prince-Bishop of Liege, on one side, and the coat of arms of the Prince-Bishopric on the other.
