Interesting fact
The ½ Ecu coin from County of Artois (French States) made of Silver was minted during the reign of Philip II (1582-1586) and features an interesting design element - the coat of arms of the County of Artois is depicted on the reverse side of the coin, surrounded by the motto "Sans tache" which means "Without stain" or "Without blemish" in French. This motto was used by the Counts of Artois as their personal motto and symbolized their commitment to purity and integrity.
