Comment
This coin had been originally intended for use in the Cape of Good Hope 5 [1/2 duit coins equals] 1⁄32 G [gulden] on the half duit, but due to the loss of that colony, where the duit was higher valued, they were sent to the Indies instead, at an initial value of 6 to the 1/32 Gulden.Varieties exist.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the ½ Duit Willem I coin is that it was minted during a time of significant change in the Netherlands East Indies, which is now modern-day Indonesia. The coin was minted in 1814, just a year after the Dutch had regained control of the East Indies from the British, who had occupied the territory during the Napoleonic Wars. This coin was part of a new currency system introduced by the Dutch to replace the previously used Spanish dollars. The ½ Duit coin was equivalent to half of a Dutch guilder and was widely used in the East Indies during the 19th century.
