Interesting fact
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of King Philip IV of Spain, while the reverse features the coat of arms of the Duchy of Brabant, which was a region in the Low Countries that is now part of Belgium. The coat of arms features a lion rampant (standing on its hind legs) with a shield bearing the motto "Sans tache" (French for "Without stain" or "Without blemish"). This motto was added to the coat of arms by the Duchess of Brabant, Isabella of Austria, in the early 17th century, and it symbolizes the purity and integrity of the Duchy.
