Interesting fact

The ½ Ducaton coin from Spanish Netherlands (County of Flanders, Belgian States) minted during the reign of Philip IV (1637-1666) was used as a means of payment for Dutch East India Company traders in the Far East, particularly in the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia). This coin was valued at 20 stuivers, which was equivalent to one-eighth of a Dutch guilder. Its silver content of .944 made it a popular choice for international trade, and it remained in circulation until the 18th century.
