The statue "Commonwealth", an allegorical female figure, against the outline of the state, is accompanied with the state's name ("PENNSYLVANIA"), the date of its admission into Union ("1787"), a keystone which illustrates its nickname (The Keystone State), the three words "VIRTUE LIBERTY INDEPENDENCE", the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" at the bottom and engraver's initials to the right of statue's legs.
