Interesting fact
The Alabama Silver Proof Washington Quarter, minted in 2003, has a unique feature. It is the first quarter in the 50 State Quarters program to bear an inscription other than the traditional "E Pluribus Unum" on its reverse side. Instead, it features the motto "We Dare Defend Our Rights," which is taken from the state's motto. This change was made to commemorate Alabama's rich history and heritage.
