Interesting fact
The 1884 Puerto Rico ½ Dollar (Counterstamped) coin was minted during a time when Puerto Rico was still a Spanish colony. The coin features a counterstamp of the letters "ND" (for "Nueva Décima") on the reverse side, which was added by the Puerto Rican government to indicate that the coin was issued under the new decimal system that was introduced in 1884. This makes the coin a unique and interesting piece of numismatic history.
