Interesting fact
The ½ Decimo coin was part of a decimalization effort in Chile during the 19th century, aimed at replacing the traditional Spanish colonial system of pesos, reales, and escudos with a new system based on the decimal system. The ½ Decimo coin was equivalent to half of a Decimo, which was the basic unit of currency in the new system. This coin was made of silver (.900) and weighed 1.15 grams. Despite the effort to modernize the currency system, the ½ Decimo coin was not widely accepted and was eventually phased out in favor of other denominations. Today, it remains a rare and interesting collector's item for numismatists.
