Interesting fact
The ½ Centavo coin from the Philippines, minted between 1903 and 1908, is interesting because it was one of the first coins to feature a Filipino national hero, Emilio Aguinaldo, on its obverse side. This coin was minted during the American colonial period in the Philippines, and it was a significant departure from the traditional Spanish colonial coins that had been used previously. The inclusion of Aguinaldo's image on the coin was a symbol of the country's struggle for independence and a reflection of the shift towards a more nationalistic identity.
