Comment

Balboa was a Spaniard, first European who crossed the Isthmus, reached the Pacific by land, and discovered the Perlas Archipelago (1513).

Since its separation from Colombia in 1903, Panama has used the United States Dollar. These coins have the same specifications as the and circulated alongside it.

Due to the rising price of silver, the United States phased out the use silver coinage and released copper-nickel clad copper coins in their place. Panama followed suit in 1966.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the ¼ Balboa coin from Panama is that it was minted with a unique combination of metals. The coin is made of Silver (.900) and Copper (.100), which gives it a distinctive color and durability. The use of silver and copper in the coin's composition was a common practice in the early 20th century, but it's still an interesting feature that sets this coin apart from others.
