Interesting fact
The ½ Albus coin from the Electors of the Palatinate, minted during the reign of Philip 1492-1502, was made of silver, but it was also one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a ruler on one side and a coat of arms on the other. This design was a departure from the traditional motifs found on coins at the time, such as religious symbols or mythological figures, and marked a shift towards more secular and nationalistic themes in coinage design.
